Visiting this local San Diego brewery is an experience, and in this blog post you’ll find tips to planning your visit along with 35 original photos taken by us during our visit.

Where in San Diego is Juneshine Brewery Located?

Juneshine Brewery is located in the Scripps Miramar neighborhood of San Diego. The brewery’s address is 10051 Old Grove Rd, San Diego, CA 92131. There’s nothing notable located near this area, mostly warehouses and businesses. You would have to make a dedicated plan to head out to this location, because you wouldn’t likely stumble across it.

What is Kombucha? What is Booch?

Kombucha is a fermented tea drink that is traditionally made using black or green tea, sugar, and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). The fermentation process produces a slightly effervescent, tangy drink that is often flavored with fruits, herbs, or spices. Kombucha is loved for its potential health benefits, which may include improved digestion, increased energy, and a boost to the immune system, largely due to its probiotic content.

“Booch” is a fun slang term for kombucha. It’s often used casually by enthusiasts and in branding to give the drink a more approachable and trendy image.

What is Hard Kombucha?

Hard kombucha is a variation of traditional kombucha that contains a higher alcohol content, typically ranging from 4% to 7% ABV, similar to many beers and ciders. This elevated alcohol level is achieved by extending the fermentation process or by adding additional sugar or other fermentable ingredients, which allows the yeast in the SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to produce more alcohol.

Hard kombucha combines the probiotic benefits and tangy, refreshing taste of regular kombucha with the added buzz of an alcoholic beverage. It’s often marketed as a healthier alternative to beer and other alcoholic drinks, appealing to those who enjoy kombucha and are looking for a lighter, more health-conscious alcoholic option.
